The Final Season - Week 2: Psycho

Alfred Hitchcock, 1960

The screeching violins from the infamous 'shower scene' are only a single entry in the ledger of new techniques Hitchcock pioneered in Psycho, revolutionizing not just movie making but the entire American cinema experience. From not allowing entry into the theatre once the movie started to abruptly turning into a different genre of movie halfway through, there's a good reason this 1960 classic is considered by many to be one of the best movies of all time.
